Light Programming

Hook!
The further adventures of Peter Pan

November/December 2023

This pantomime season, I was lucky enough to be offered to help program the pantomime at The Kings Theatre Portsmouth. I was working alongside lighting designer Alex Musgrave, programming on an ETC GIO. It was amazing to see firsthand how the fabulous designs come together to form such an amazing show! It was a pleasure to be working with Alex. I was then the LX Operator for the majority of the shows run, working with such a fantastic team at The Kings Theatre was a highlight of my year. The show was a roaring success! The show had over 60,000 people come to visit, that’s a staggering 89% capacity for the entire shows run!

The Permanent Way - Play

May 2023

I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to program the lighting on The Permanent Way, using an Eos Ti. The lighting designer was Brett Kasza. On this show we had a very unique wall of parcans on stage left and stage right. These gave great eye candy and looked amazing with the Haze, however they did generate quite a lot of heat, having 12,000w worth of parcan on each side, but it was worth it! The play is about the government privatising the railway, with the climax being a large train crash. The show ran well with good reviews all around. It was a pleasure to work with Brett Kasza.

Foundation Showcase - Musical

May 2023

I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to program The Foundation Musical Theatre Showcase. I was programming on an Eos Ti lighting Desk. This show was a show I programmed alongside A Permanent Way. On the Thursday and Friday, we has showings of the Foundation Showcase, with two shows of A Permanent way being shown on the Saturday. We used the same lighting rig for both shows with just some minor gel changes and tweaks. This show was a vast contrast compared to A Permanent Way, being an upbeat musical with some amazingly talented students! Working alongside Brett Kasza was a joy and his designs were astounding.
