My passion for lighting in theatre started back in 2006 when I was just 4 years old. My nan took me to see my first ever Pantomime at The Kings Theatre in Portsmouth. Most people go to see the show, for me I was just looking at and watching the lighting. Every year since 2006 I have been to see the Pantomime as a tradition, and I have always been interested with the lighting. Unfortunately, during my education, I didn’t get the opportunity to delve into the world of lighting or production work as it wasn’t an option. However, when I turned 13, I joined my dad in the mobile Djing scene. Over the years being out on the road, working on various gigs, we slowly built up enough money to improve our set up, with not only sound, but intelligent lighting. This was my opportunity to learn how intelligent lighting works. So, over the years I self-taught myself all about DMX control and programming lighting. Once I had finished college, I had no idea what I wanted to do for further education, so I chose to have a gap year to give me chance to sit down, relax and really think about what I’d like to do for a career. I’ve always dreamed of working within the production world, but with my lack of education within the production world, I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to enrol onto a theatre production course. I applied for the Guildford School of Acting’s (Surrey University) Theatre production course, and I managed to secure myself one of the 28 places! Over the last few years, I have been working extremely hard to further my knowledge within the production industry and get every bit of experience I can. I am now adventuring onto my final year of study on the course, having achieved a First Grade (78%) on my practical module, with a lot of exciting work coming up!
