Where I came from
Originating from South Wales, I have had a passion for theatre and theme parks from a young age. I was a member of several youth theatre clubs and earned leading roles in shows such as The Wizard of Oz, Godspell and Cats. As enjoyable as this was, I was always fascinated by the production side of theatre, leading me to pursue a career in theatre tech. I joined the 'performing and production arts' course at my local college where I passed with a DISTINCTION. Shortly after I got accepted into GSA's 'Technical Theatre' course, developing skills in the core theatre departments; Stage management, Sound, Construction and of course, lighting and Video. In my second year at GSA, I got accepted into Disney's Cultural Exchange Programme in Walt Disney World, becoming their first Photopass Photographer at Hollywood Studios on this programme.

Who I am now

Focusing on Lighting and Video technology, I strive to make any production an enjoyable experience for everyone, all while maintaining professionalism. I specialise in lighting programming, specifically ETC EOS consoles, having previously worked with the GIO and TI. I am experienced in programming a variety of genres from musicals, to plays, video recordings and live music. Additionally I have created a showfile template for use in future productions (you can find the download link below if you're curious). My capabilites go beyond programming however, experienced as a production electrician for both lighting and video, as well as assistant lighting designer experience where I believe communication is key to effective execution of these roles. I'm currently practicing as a freelancer, having already garnered experience in themed entertainment venues, preparation work and general assistant in mid-scale venues, with aspirations set high for life post university.

What's next
Although my training has been within theatre, I aspire to work as lighting/video technician within theme parks in the long-term. However, before then I plan on gaining further training within the departments I have yet to develop skills in such as automation and especially pyrotechnics to bring even more of a visual FLARE to your productions. Additionally, I intend on acquiring my own IPAF licence, furthering my value as team member on any production. Finally, I'm planning on receiving GrandMA training to add yet another lighting desk to my list of proficiencies. In the meantime I will continue to practice freelancing within theatre and other kinds of live entertainment venues.
