About Me

From dressing to alterations to sourcing and supervising .........

My Name is Iris, I am a 2024 GSA graduate based in London. Before studying at GSA I attended the London Screen Academy (between 2019 - 2021). Where I specialised in Costume, Art Direction and Hair and Makeup. It was there I was able to refine my passion for costume, learning to design and pattern make. My love of theatre pushed me to apply to GSA, where I am about to graduate and enter the professional world. Being able to transfer my skills between film, TV and theatre has shaped my knowledge and determination and above all has allowed me to build confidence both on set and backstage. Alongside my practical skills, I believe acting kind and positively is the key to success in encouraging a sustainable workplace, I aim to bring this attitude to any walk of work.

Dressing

I have professional dressing experience from dressing at the New Wimbledon Theatre on productions such as Calendar Girls, Shrek and Singin in the Rain. Picking up a dressing track sometimes as little as an hour before the show, I am a fast and focused learner. During my training I have plotted and created dressing tracks for up to 3 people with my track having up to 40 changes. My confidence comes from being trustworthy and a strong communicator, vital in a high pressure setting.

Alterations and Maintenence

I am confident in sewing and alterations, more specifically hand and machine. As well as having a adeptness in working under pressure and in high-stress environments, which is highly desirable in the theatre industry. My experience in breakdown and aging garments and shoes is also high. My CV is upon request to gain further insight into your qualifications and expertise.

Sourcing and Supervising

Given the opportunity during training, I was able to work alongside freelance supervisors and designers, creating contacts with costume rentals and houses to find the best clothing for period or niche pieces. I am to build on these experiences to supervise in the future. Most importantly I believe I can learn and adapt in any environment to understand and appreciate leadership roles.
