GLive
Working at GLive offers an exciting variety of incoming shows, ranging from small one-off comedians to multi-day events like Diversity. As a casual technician, I contribute to all areas the venue, assisting with get-ins and get-outs, operating equipment, and maintenance tasks. The fast-paced environment means that every shift is unique, requiring a fresh set of skills Whether it's adapting the space from a seated venue to a fully standing or transforming it into an orchestral hall for a concert, no two days are ever the same at GLive.

Duty Tech
The Duty Stage/Tech is a pivotal role in the production of any show, from renowned comedians like Jimmy Carr to spectacular performances such as Cir: The Greatest Show. The position demands a solid understanding of the venue and the ability to work swiftly under pressure as the setup often occurs just hours before the first performance. This entails communicating with the visiting company regarding the in-house lighting and sound system, ensuring they can seamlessly access these resources for show. Ultimately, the Duty Stage/Tech ensures that everything runs smoothly, allowing for an unforgettable experience both performers and audiences alike.

Follow Spot
As a follow spot operator, I must remain consistently alert and aware of my surroundings, as I may be called upon to follow a performance without any prior rehearsals. It’s crucial for me to listen carefully to the lighting designer to ensure I maintain the aesthetic of the show. I have experience following a diverse range of productions, from the charming comedies that feature actors darting across the stage to large-scale concerts like Gabrielle, which utilized remote follow spots. Additionally, I had the opportunity to work a six-week residency at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, where I operated a follow spot for a pantomime, allowing me to develop a track that I followed day in and day out.

Studio Tech
As the studio technician, I am solely responsible for the smooth transfer of a given show into the 100 seat venue. My role involves direct collaboration with the performing act to set up the lighting and sound, ensuring that all specific requirements are met in a safe and timely manner.

LX Riggin
Over the summer of 2024, I spent a week at my local venue, GLive, assisting with the de-rigging of their lighting bars in preparation for PAT testing. Once everything was tested, our team worked diligently to rig all the lights according to the predetermined lighting plan. One of our key tasks was to reduce the weight on the loom that connects to the lights, making it safer and easier to pull in and out whenever we needed to adjust the LX bars. This experience was incredibly enjoyable as we were able to diagnose issues within the system when we were installing, ultimately simplifying the setup and ensuring that in the future we could become efficient.
